Characters

Jedi Fallen order is extremely story driven, so it was essential that the characters were likeable and interesting. A lot of the characters from the game are completely new, and have never been mentioned in the Star Wars films. Making a game for a famous franchise such as Star Wars and creating completely new characters is always risky and needs to be done right. This is because a lot of the fans of the franchise only like the original characters, and are always hesitant to accept anyone new.

One of the main recognisable characters in Jedi Fallen order was Darth Vader, which caused a huge amount of hype, even though he only shows up for the last 10 minutes of the game. This shows how invested fans can get over original characters.

Respawn Studios did an amazing job with creating the new characters, and a lot of fans loved the new characters, especially Cal Kestis, as he was so relatable and likeable. In the final episode of The Mandalorian, there was speculation that a mysterious Jedi would be featured in the final episode and a lot of fans were hoping it would be Cal Kestis. The fact that his character was able to cause so much hype already (similar to the appearance of Darth Vader), despite only being featured in one game, proves they did a great job designing his character.

Cal Kestis

“You know I’ve been alone for…a while now. Without any…purpose. Just hiding. It’s no way to live. Not for a Jedi. Or a droid. Maybe Cere was right. Maybe we’re done hiding.”
―Cal Kestis, to BD-1

Cal Kestis is one of my favourite characters, not just from Jedi Fallen Order, but in the Star Wars series.
He is a Force-Sensitive human that was one of the only few Jedi to survive Order 66, so a lot of his life has been spent in hiding. Although Cal Kestis is never spoken of or seen in the Star Wars films, he was involved in a lot of the major events that took place in the Star Wars Universe.

Before Order 66, Cal was one of the younger members of the Jedi Order in the final years of the Galactic Republic (Democratic Galaxy). Cal even knew Master Yoda, and travelled with him to a Jedi Temple on a planet called Ilum, and took part in The Gathering. The Gathering is an important Jedi ritual where selected Jedi Younglings get their Kyber Crystal so they can build their Lightsaber.

Cal quickly became a Padawan and his master was Jaro Tapal. They served together during the Clone Wars, and Cal was a Jedi Commander. The pair went on a mission on Bracca however as they were leaving, Chancellor Palpatine executed Order 66. Cal managed to escape the sudden attack from the Clones and he and his master reached the escape pods, however again they were attacked by Clones. Cal was left with a cut to his jaw, and his master fatally wounded. His Master Jaro told Cal to trust only in the force and stay true to the Jedi and then died infront of him, leaving Cal traumatised, and feeling responsible for his Masters death. Cal took Jaros lightsaber and went into hiding.

The game Jedi Fallen Order follows Cal five years after Order 66, which I’ve written about on The Game Storyline page. After the Jedi Fallen Order game, Cals story was left open ended. There is another game being developed so fans might find out what happens to him next, however at the moment we don’t know what happens to him. He wasn’t mentioned in any of the most recent films, during the time that Rey is the main character, Cal Kestis would be 70 years old. Thinking about what could’ve happened to him is very interesting, and might be something I explore in my set somehow.

BD-1

BD-1 is the droid that accompanies Cal Kestis on his journey during the Fallen Order game and is able to scan monsters, objects and structures to gain helpful information for the player.

BD-1 previously served as Eno Cordovas droid, and went with him during his quests to the ancient Zeffo Temple. Therefore the droid held a huge amount of information and stored a lot of Enos findings. When Eno sensed they were in danger and that Order 66 waas approaching, Eno wiped BD-1s memory, only leaving the information that would help complete the task of rebuilding the Jedi Order. This information could only be unlocked once BD-1 found a Jedi that he trusted, this Jedi was Cal Kestis.

Cere Junda

Cere Junda is a Force sensitive human, who was also previously a Jedi Knight. During the game Fallen Order, her Padawan was Cal Kestis. Before this, Cere was also heavily effected during Order 66, so much so that she cut off her Force powers.

Cere was discovered at a very young age and was taken to the main Jedi Temple on Coruscant, where she trained to become a Jedi. Cere was Padawan to Eno Cordova. As Cere became a Jedi Knight, she took on Trilla Suduri as her apprentice. The pair were together as Order 66 was executed and they managed to escape with a group of younglings to go into hiding.

Eventually Cere was captured by The Empire but Trilla and the younglings managed to escape. Cere was tortured by The Empire, including Darth Vader himself, leading her to give up the location of her Padawan Trilla. They captured Trilla and from the anger of her betrayal from Cere, she turned to the Dark Side and became an inquisitor for The Empire, and is now called the Second Sister.

Cere was also driven to anger as she failed to protect her Padawan, so she too fell to the Dark Side temporarily, killing everyone in her path apart from Trilla, and she escaped from The Empire. After falling to the Dark Side for a short while, Cere disconnected herself from the Force and was left with the guilt from the fate of her Padawan Trilla.

She decided to spend the rest of her days trying to rebuild the Jedi Order and to find someone strong enough in the Force that could finish her old Masters journey of getting the list of Force Sensitive Children to rebuild the Jedi Order.

Eno Cordova

Eno Cordova. who is seen in the Jedi Fallen Order Game and is the one that hid the list of Force Sensitive children. Something that isn’t mentioned in the films, is that Eno Cordova was one of the only people that knew Order 66 was going to happen, as he saw a vision whilst he was exploring the ancient Zeffo Temple. Unfortunately no-one believed him apart from one Jedi, this wasn’t enough and Order 66 still happened as he foresaw. However, as Eno knew he was going to die during the purge of Jedi, he went into the Jedi archives and made a copy of the list of Force Sensitive Children for someone to some day discover and rebuild the Jedi Order.

Greez Dritus

There is not an awful lot of information on Greez, all we know from the game is that he works for Cere to help rebuild the Jedi Order.

He is the owner and captain of the Stinger Mantis, which is the ship that the crew fly in during the game. In the game it’s touched on that Greez got into trouble with The Haxion Brood which was a crime group lead by a Crime Lord named Sorc Tormo. This may be because he was heavily into gambling, and this may have got him in trouble.
