Over the past few months I have been considering moving my career path more so into Animation, so I’ve been researching more into the job role of a Storyboard Artist. . I was looking forward to doing storyboards for this project as I would get a chance to practice and to research more about cinematography and planning shots. On top of this, it gives the opportunity to do some creative writing, as you need some kind of script before doing a Storyboard, so it all works together and makes sense.

Cal Kestis: The Lost Jedi
After the Battle of Crait the Galaxy has been left in a state of decay. Planets are being destroyed, and the Resistance is preparing for their final fight against The First Order. A broadcast has been released by Sith Leader, Emperor Palpatine, who until now was thought to be dead. The Galaxy prepares for War lead by Rey, the final hope for the Jedi… Little do they know, there are other Jedi that still exist in the Galaxy.
After escaping from Darth Vader in 14BBY, Cal Kestis, BD-1, Cere Junda and Greez Dritus spent the rest of their days continuing their mission to help rebuild the Jedi Order. The Mantis Crew helped fight during the Battle of Endor, but chose to stay clear of Luke Skywalkers New Jedi Order, as Cere sensed darkness in its future. Instead, they lived freely in the Galaxy, visiting old Jedi Temples and lands to recover any relics left behind from the war, living a peaceful life.
Keeping away from any other affairs in the Galaxy meant the only thing that could harm any of them was time. Each member of the Mantis Crew began to grow old, meaning their days of exploring the galaxy became less and less. As the state of the Galaxy began to grow dark again, Cal and BD-1 were the only members left of the Mantis Crew. The recent loss of Cere and Greez resurfaced the trauma Cal dealt with before, leaving him feeling lost and struggling against darkness again. As a way to cope with the resurfaced trauma, Cal spent the rest of his days with BD-1, travelling to Old Temples and planets like a lost soul, reliving his days with The Mantis Crew.
Cal had become disconnected from the Force years ago when he lost hope for the Galaxy. Since then, he would wander the Galaxy and visit Ancient Jedi Temples to find enlightenment, which he was unable to find. He grew weak and was losing hope, unsure if he would ever reconnect with the force and feel relevant again.
Soon after the death of Luke Skywalker, Cal received a strong feeling that he needed to visit the Planet Crait. He had heard rumours years ago of an Ancient Jedi Temple that had been abandoned for decades and left in ruin. It was said that the Temple was once used as a place of Pilgrimage, where Jedi would travel to reconnect with the force when they were lost. Other rumours say that the Temple had been taken by a group of Mandalorian, that had made a home within the Crystal Caves.
Cal decided he would go to Crait and find the Temple, as it may be his last chance to reconnect with the Force. He jumped into hyperspace in the Stinger Mantis to the outer Rim Territories, arriving to a planet that was a mix of white, grey and red. As he flew into Craits atmosphere, he saw the ruin from the recent battle. The once perfect salt flats were now upturned leaving red crystals and salt scattered everywhere, along with a huge ship graveyard covered in debris. Cal landed the Stinger Mantis, and with BD-1 on his shoulder, made his way through the ship graveyard towards the location of The Ancient Temple.
Standing at the base of the mountain, Cal looked up to see a line of giant hooded Jedi statues, framed by stone columns. He looks around the base of the mountain and sees so old crumbling steps leading all the way up. As he eventually reaches the top of the steps, he walks to the edge of the mountain. Cal stands for a moment, looking out onto the Salt flats, the sun setting causing a dusty, orange hue. He stands and looks out at the Binary Sunset, dreaming of the life he could’ve had. He pulls down his hood, taking one last look, before swiftly turning and walking up the Temple Walkway.
The giant Jedi statues stand guarding the walkway. At the end of the walkway were the Temple doors, covered in stone and rusting bronze. As Cal approaches the temple doors, he sees Jedi runes etched into them. He places his hand flat on the runes, closing his eyes using the force to open the door. The large stone doors slowly slide open with a heavy scraping sound, flooding the Temple with orange light. Cal walks in and sees only half of the temple is lit with sunlight, the rest in complete darkness. The Temple is dusty and overgrown, and has small red crystals starting to grow up the walls and along the walkway. Cal walked to where the light ends, turning around he sees a blinding lens flare of light shine through the hole of the door. The doors then slowly began to close, and darkness filled the temple. Cal waited for a moment, before igniting his blue lightsaber to guide his way down the walkway.
Cal walked down the walkway, surrounded by a blue orb of light. He slowly stopped as he came to a cut in the wall, covered in crystals and some crumbling steps. BD-1 jumped off his shoulder, running up the steps onto a large circular platform. He encourages Cal to follow, so he hesitantly walks up the steps, revealing the circular platform. The platform is engraved with circles, that look like a map of a galaxy. He can’t see anything else beyond that, and can feel moisture in the air and a light breeze. He crouches down to BD-1, looking at his friend one last time. BD-1 climbs onto Cals back, as he places his hand onto the cold, stone floor.
The Temple is silent. Cal closes his eyes and breathes in heavily, trying to meditate to connect to the Force in the Temple. After several minutes of silence, a feeling of energy begins to form around Cal. Small rocks and dust slowly begin to levitate, forming rings around him like a barrier. The Runes on the floor begin to fill with florescent blue light, like molten gold being poured into a mold. It travels through the engravings on the floor, down the walkway and travels up the walls. The temple fills with energy and seems to absorb into Cal, the rocks drop abruptly causing a surge of wind to propel outwards from the platform. The Temple is suddenly engulfed with sunlight as the Temple doors open and rocks fall from the ceiling. Cal opens his eyes seeing the giant crystal caves around him, glowing in the sun. A beam of light shines onto a cave opening in front of him, a short jump from the meditation platform. He slowly stands, feeling a surge of energy within him, he feels strong with the force again. BD-1 climbs off his shoulder, and jumps to the ledge of the cave opening, encouraging Cal to follow him once again.

Second Draft
A Jedi has travelled to the Planet Crait after hearing rumours about a group of Mandalorian taking refuge in an Ancient Jedi Temple. The Jedi has been forgotten about and thinks that by recruiting The Mandalorian to join the Resistance in the upcoming war against The First Order, they will gain admiration. As the Jedi arrives on Crait, they look out at the ship graveyard before walking up the walkway past the broken statues and up to the temple doors. The doors are open, lighting up the temple with dusty orange light. The Jedi walks through the empty temple to a Meditation Platform at the end. A beam of light is shining down onto the platform, making all of the red crystals reflect the light. As they’re about to step onto the platform, they feel someone watching them.

A Resistance scout has been sent out to the Planet Crait after hearing rumours about a group of Mandalorian taking refuge in an Ancient Jedi Temple. They scout has been sent to recruit The Mandalorian to join the Resistance in the upcoming war against The First Order. As the Scout arrives on Crait, they look out at the ship graveyard before walking up the walkway past the broken statues and up to the temple doors. The doors are open, lighting up the temple with dusty orange light. The scout walks through the empty temple then suddenly turns around, a Mandalorian is standing behind him.
